Fatima Da Silva
Executive Chef & Owner
Born and raised in Mozambique (Africa), Fatima inherited her passion for cooking from her mother who catered for working couples that did not have the time to cook but wanted home made meals.
“Our home resembled the U.N. my family background is a colourful blend of Portuguese, East Indian, Arabic, Spanish and even a little Chinese; which turned our meals into a very adventurous and exciting experience.”
Fatima’s restaurant beginnings started with French chef Michel Forte (French Connection) in the early 90’s.
In the summer of 2000 she took over Vinoteca, at Zanatta vineyard, were she remained until 2005.
“Vinoteca was a blast, but it was time to create something that was mine. We had a rocky start like many restaurants do, but it’s paying off. We, (Chris Szilagyi sous-chef) are building a very strong team”
Chris Szilagyi
Chef
Born in Toronto, Ontario, also from a truly multicultural family with a Trinidadian born mother with Chinese, African, Portuguese and Irish ancestry and a Hungarian father, Chris’s exposure to around the world food led him to passionately pursue his quest for exotic foods. After running his own restaurant in Regina for 6 years and brief work experience in an Italian restaurant, Chris enrolled in the Culinary Arts Program at Malaspina College, graduating at the top of his class with a gold medal.
“I’m the luckiest chef ever, working with the sweet, talented, never swearing angel called Fatima, is a dream come true. SHE’S ALWAYS RIGHT AND NOT OPINIONATED AT ALL!”
